Makayla was born in Highland, Indiana, and raised in Burleson, Texas. She graduated from Southern Nazarene University in 2019, where she competed in both volleyball and softball. After completing a master’s degree in 2021, she pursued her J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law. While in law school, Makayla earned a certificate in Healthcare Law, made the Dean’s List, achieved Academic Honor Roll status, served as an Assistant Resource Editor of the Law Review, received a Public Interest Award for over 350 hours committed to community service during her law school tenure, and served as a member of the Health Law Student Organization.
Makayla is also a singer/songwriter since 2018. Through her pursuit of music, she met her husband, Alex. They continue to enjoy volunteering and performing music together at their church, Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.
