Juneteenth

Pierce Couch Hendrickson Baysinger & Green takes this moment to commemorate and acknowledge Juneteenth.  This holiday commemorates the date in 1865 when the last enslaved African-Americans learned from Union soldiers that they were free.  However, Juneteenth is more than a holiday.  It is an important time of reflection to consider the true meaning of equal justice and racial equality for all, and it is a call to community service.

As an Oklahoma firm that has been in practice since 1923, we also acknowledge this centennial year of the Tulsa Race Massacre.  In 1921, a white mob attacked residents, homes and businesses in the predominantly African American Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Hundreds died, thousands of homes and businesses were destroyed.  The event remains one of the worst incidents of racial violence in U.S. history.

This firm recognizes the importance and gravity of both of these events and we encourage all to take time to reflect on their significance, to participate in events honoring Juneteenth, and/or to engage in positive community service.

Thank you.
